Montgomery Little and Junior Starz* Shine at their End of Summer Term Zumba Performance

Wednesday, July 26th, 2017

Montgomery Primary School’s JM DanceFit Little and Junior Starz* classes ended their summer term on a Zumba high with two energetic performances enjoyed by family members.  The sessions finished with the children inviting their parents to join in with a few dance moves of their own!!  In addition to the termly classes, the little taster performances given at the end of each term are a great way to help increase both the children’s self-esteem and confidence. All of the Little and Junior Starz* children were awarded well deserved performance certificates for their creativity and team work in class this term.  The ZumbaKids classes, which allow children to have fun while improving both their confidence and fitness levels, will continue to be held at the primary school by local Zumba instructor Johanna Morgan for the foreseeable future.  New children are welcome to join in the termly classes which will recommence after the Summer break on Tuesday 5th September.  For further information please visit the JM DanceFit website at or contact Johanna directly on 07739518587

Community Garden Update - Potatoes

Monday, July 24th, 2017

Take a look at our potato crop, dug up last week in the school’s community garden.

The potatoes were planted by Years 1 and 2 under the supervision of this Senior Green Team member. This year’s crop contains the largest potatoes we’ve ever grown!

Please check in with the community garden in St Thomas Park over the summer holidays (it’s a bit far for most of the teachers to check in with!). Feel free to plant anything you would like to grow in the garden. We invite you to pick any produce you spot to take home, and the garden can always do with weeding or watering. Happy growing!!!

Summer Fair - donations needed!

Monday, June 26th, 2017

Dear Monty Families,

Just a little reminder about any available donations for the school summer fair on Friday 7th July.

We would be grateful for any unwanted adult t-shirts and pre-loved teddies.

The children have also come home with their stickers informing them of their colour donations. This can be anything, something new, something found, a toy, something from the kitchen cupboards, anything at all.

Please hand these to the school office or class teacher by Friday 30th June.

We thank you for you amazing support every year and look forward to seeing you all on the 7th!!

Community Garden

Monday, June 19th, 2017

At Montgomery we take our motto ‘Taking Care of the Future’ very seriously. So when we were presented with the opportunity to collaborate with St Thomas Residents Association and Blooming St Thomas to create a community garden in our local park we jumped at the chance. We have relished the opportunity to work with our local community and teach Monty children where their food comes from. Our Monty children have been enthusiastic gardeners from the get go, proudly showing off their garden to the Britain in Bloom judges last summer.
The only thing our garden lacked was a proper sign to explain the concept of the shared community space encouraging people to come in and work with us. Our laminated posters weren’t really doing the job, getting weather worn very quickly.
We put a plea out to the local community via Twitter, hoping an Exeter business would help us out with a proper sign. Signs Express Exeter were happy to help us, and provided us with a terrific sign (free of charge) that promotes our community garden perfectly. We are truly grateful to work with a local company who highly value community projects and support local primary schools. Thank you very much to everyone at Signs Express Exeter!

Everyone is invited to use the community garden. Please spread the word! Also, we need volunteers to keep an eye on the garden over the summer holidays please.
