We were all able to finish our final sculpture pieces today- Junk modeling of olympians. Some classes created individual pieces, where as some created them in a small groups.

The children really enjoyed creating their sculptures and their finished products were of a very high standard.

We have carried on with our sculpture work today. We have explored  twisting and bending wire into  different shapes to make a person (possibly an sportsman/woman and their equipment e.g throwing the javelin). This was a practise for our final piece.

During our creative sessions we have continued to look at sculpture.

This week we have been exploring different ways of making sculptures based upon the work of different artists. Eventually we will produce our own metal sculpture of an olympic athlete.

(see previous blog for sculpture inspired by Erwin Wurm)

On Wednesday we created olympic athlete sculptures using random objects and lego (Nathan Sawaya inspired).

Today, some of us made paper and card sculptures, whilst others started learning how to bend and shape the metal for our final designs.

In Art we have begun to look at sculpture. We started by finding out what sculpture was and discussing some famous artists and their pieces.

We then moved onto to creating our own abstract sculptures based upon the work of Erwin Wurm.

We have finally finished sewing our jubilee designs for our bunting! We have attached each triangle to a length of ribbon and they now hang proudly in each room. Be sure to have a good look during our open learning day tomorrow.

As part of our Jubilee celebrations we will be creating a length of bunting. Each child will have a triangle and they will sew their own Jubilee inspired design on it. Today, we started the running stitch (which also included needle threading, thread and needle management and patience!) We will be moving onto creating designs e.g. crowns, flags etc later in the week.
