EYFS- Chinese dragon dance

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Thankyou to everyone who wore red to celebrate the beginning of the new year festival. This year we say ‘goodbye’ to the year of the dragon and ‘hello’ to the year of the snake!

Today we created dragon dances and many sequences of movements, individually, in pairs and in groups. We twisted, curled and changed our body shapes to move like a chinese dragon.

Using the percussion instruments we explored different sounds and rhythms to accompany dances, working together to keep a steady beat and pulse.

Year 1/2 Music

Monday, July 9th, 2012

Today we were invited to watch the band ‘The Alchemist”. They are made up of children (and some teachers) from a local school, St Micheal’s Primary.

They did a cracking performance and many of our children are now interested in forming their own band.

We are learning a new instrument.

Ask your child if they know the name of this instrument.

Challenge them by asking what they have used them for?

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Today we had fun singing along with Mr Vickery while he played the ukulele. We sang some of our favourite songs; She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain, Daddy’s Taking Us to the Zoo, Twinkle Twinkle Chocolate Bar  and Row, Row, Row the Boat.

We are looking forward to learning some new songs this term.
